Here is an updated picture of me in my uniform, along with my babies Zoey and Kahlua. Then you can see little Jack off to the right, but he’s not so little anymore. He’s becoming a cat. He is all done with his medication and I found him some friends. There were two kitties that were about the same size as him and it is really important for kittens to socialize with other kittens at an early age
. Jack always had Oscar to play with, but Oscar has always been twice as big. Jack immediately loved playing with the little ones his size! Oscar enjoys having all the highly energetic playmates around too. I even think Ally is getting used to having other animals around as she seems to be more tolerable of the new arrivers. The two new kitties definitely have a spunky personality. The first day I had them they had figured out how to climb on the furniture and to the top of the cat crate. Jack will sometimes look up at them, but has yet to figure out how to join them. The two kitties can also climb to the top of the cat condo pictured. Jack has begun to try and climb. He makes it about halfway up the bottom post and then falls down and he has figured out how to get to the first shelf in the cat crate. So now I am trying to fatten up the new kitties as they are pretty thin, but they should be on their way to getting adopted very soon. The little gray one is Jill and I think she knows her name already. Every time I call it, she comes out of wherever she is hiding. Then there is my foster puppy! I picked her up a couple weeks ago when she had been dumped in someone else’s backyard. I let her ride in my truck until we got to the shelter where I cleaned her up (she had several ticks on her body and in her ears) and tried to figure out where her scars on the side of her body came from. Well the days counted down to her euthanasia date and finally on the last day I broke down and asked to foster her. I couldn’t say that final goodbye to her. I knew it was a risk bringing her home as Zoey can be very particular about dogs, but I knew I had to try. Last Friday I brought her home and introduced to Kahlua, who I wasn’t too worried about, but Kahlua explained very vocally that she wasn’t a big fan of the visitor. So I separated Kahlua and decided to let Zoey meet her. I put the baby girl into my outside kennel and brought out Zoey on a leash. Zoey ran up to the kennel and just started wagging her tail like crazy. I let them out together and they just played and ran and played… Kahlua continued to share her disgust with the visitor by yapping/barking, which I think was in part to jealousy that
Zoey had someone new to play with. Well they played all night and then it was time for bed. I placed the baby girl’s crate in my bedroom so she didn’t have to be too far away. I placed her in there, talked on the phone for a bit and watched TV for a bit. Then when I turned the TV off she began to whine and whine. I squirted her with the squirt bottle a few times, but then…the the smell began to seep into my nose. She pooped in her crate. Yuk! I turned on the light and realized that she did not just go in her crate, but had diarrhea in and outside the crate, yes, on my carpet. I got her out cleaned her, the crate, and my floor. I then moved her out to the hallway where there was tile; put her back in the crate and settled back into bed. I turned the TV back on so I could settle down from the commotion. The baby girl was being quiet and I figured she had fallen asleep. I turned off the TV and she
began whining immediately. I turned the TV back on and she stopped. Needless to say I fell asleep with the TV on that night, but by morning time she had more diarrhea. At least it was on the tile. That next day all my carpet got steam cleaned and the tile was mopped! Fortunately that was the last of those incidences. Unfortunately she did get sick on Sunday and had to spend most of the week back at the shelter to get treated for kennel cough. She is making a full recovery though and is back at home with me this weekend!! So far she is crate trained (even without the TV on), housebroken (no accidents in the last 3 days here) and while at the shelter she only peed in her kennel once (the first day when she was too sick to go on a walk), walks great on a leash, comes when called (most of the time) and knows “sit”. We are even working on lie “down” now. She is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. We have labeled her as a Labrador/Whippet Mix, and it is my prediction that she will only be about 30-40lb. She is 20lb now and about 4-5mo. She loves to cuddle and her favorite way to be held is upright just like a baby, she’ll even rest her head on your shoulder. Any takers???
Holly even came over for a brief visit last weekend!

Wow Marcy - your busy with the kids, and orphanes too.
Your providing well for them.
Without a doubt your gaining a lot of "animal behavioral" knowledge.
Awesome!
